Two weeks before

  • File USPS mail forwarding (usps.com)
  • Schedule utility shutoff and start: electric, gas, water, trash
  • Transfer or set up internet and TV
  • Notify your employer and payroll
  • Update bank, credit card and loan accounts

Moving week

  • Insurance: homeowners, auto, health, life
  • DMV: driver’s license and vehicle registration
  • Voter registration
  • Doctors, dentist, pharmacy and vet
  • Schools and childcare

After you’re in

  • Subscriptions and online shopping accounts
  • Amazon, streaming and app stores
  • Memberships, gyms and clubs
  • Friends, family and holiday card list
  • Tax agencies (IRS Form 8822, state)
